From Auntie K...

Bad kitty

I was having a rough morning today. Mom did something that she later regretted. She was sorting out all that flossy stuff she uses on the living room floor and just left it there in neat little piles. Man, this was way too tempting! I was bored so I started to roll in that stuff. The problem is it gets caught in my claws. Ma got up to go in the bathroom and saw her tidy floss piles in a big circle about the size of me! She was mad!!
I had woken mom up earlier and she was not happy with having me around today, I am sure about that. So I later snuck in her room and got up on my perch and crashed. Sometimes a cat feels a little crazy, you know?

I like being coddled

Being petted is like being groomed and licked by mother, which makes a cat feel comforted and secure. (Workman calendar).
That's why I love my human ma!

Mom and her disappearing act

Two out of three days this week Mom has 'gone missing' for hours on end. I don't know what to do! The guys were here today, but I stayed to myself. Dad tried to take me outside and I fussed and even hissed-I was just fed up!
When Mom finally comes home I am so happy. I sit high on her chest and kiss her nose several times. I sniff the stuff she brings home too. (See the photo below where I took a great nap among the tissue wrap).
Why she does this, I don't know. She's here so much, I guess she needs to sniff out new places like I do. I guess I'll let her slide...this time!

Cat in a bag

Hey, anything in here for me or is it all you again Mom?

If cats could speak

"If animals could speak, the dog would be a blundering outspoken fellow, but the cat would have the rare grace of never saying a word too much." Phillip Gilbert Hamerton (Workman desk calendar).

Sean freaked me out!

Never trust a human brother! Because of him, I had issues with getting up on mom's lap for about 4 days!! Here's what happened-I was on my mom's lap and she was using a little pretzel rod to play with me(I think when it is moving it looks like a strange bug). So Sean comes in the room and claps his big ol' hands really loud and scares the bejeebers out of me! I dug the top of mom's hand and left a piece of my claw in it-ouch to both of us. I just couldn't face mom because I was still associating the pillows on the sofa with mom spazzing out.
I did get up on mom's lap yesterday when the guys weren't around. I am okay now. I would be better if mom didn't have the vacuum (whiz whiz) in the same room though.

Crashed

No this isn't me, but ma said it looks like me as a baby. Poor little guy!

Vet visit 2005

So I had to go to the blasted vet for my shots. I really hate the cat carrier as I feel so trapped in there. I make a fuss the entire time I am in it and the van. Sean was nice enough to help mom (and he came down with a mini-migraine after dinner too). We got there early and guess what they had in a big cat condo cage? Three little kittens who lost their mittens (I can't help myself!) They were only 6 weeks old and black and white and so tiny. I just stared at them through my carrier.
I was taken in the exam room and got weighed-13 pds-13oz, up 7 oz from last year. Then Doc Wendy came in and gave me my Rabies and Distemper (I think) and I didn't even flinch. I am a brave dude. Doc said I was handsome though I had a little tartar on my back teeth. She suggested I get my teeth cleaned there sometime in the future. HA!
So I did sulk back into the carrier and ma gave me a treat and off we went. It was only a 45 minute ordeal. Glad the kittens stayed put!
Speaking of kittens, dad wanted mom to adopt a 3 week old kitten who needed to be bottlefed. Mom said she couldn't break my heart and take care of a baby and not like in my territory. And if it died, she would feel like it was her fault. Sorry dad, this is a one cat household.

My human bro

Ok, I look 'possessed'. I was possessed to sit on Sean's lap for about the second time in 3 yrs!
It didn't last long. I scooted down in a matter of minutes.

Lending a paw

Dad needed a 'paw' assemblying a new bookcase for Mom. I'd do anything for her!
No comment on my tummy bulge please.

Why cats snack all day and why people are jealous

Because cats' normal prey is so small, they have evolved to eat frequently throughout the day.
(Workman cat calendar).
I think this is my most annoying trait. Blame evolution will you mom! She does 'give in' and give me food, but only a teaspoon at a time. Sean and dad are more generous. Hmmm...maybe that is why I weigh around 14 pounds now. Ah..who cares?

Another 'cat' thing

by Kurt Vonnegut
You believe quite firmly that free will deserted you long ago and far
away. As a result, it's hard to take responsibility for anything. Even though you show
great potential as a leader of a small 3rd world country, the choices are all made ahead
of time. You're rather fond of games involving string. Your fear of nuclear weaponry is
trumped only by your fear of ice.
(This doesn't sound a lot like mom, though she sure doesn't like nuclear stuff and has fallen on ice more than once).

Leaving pets behind

My kitty heart is aching. Dad is sad too. Mom is glad she didn't see the news of a dog and owner on a roof waiting to get rescued down south and they only took the man. The dog just watched his owner being air lifted away from him.
Sometimes people forget about their faithful companions.
The kitty calendar says this today and it's so fitting-"Animals are such agreeable friends; they ask no questions, pass no criticisms".
Hopefully someone rescued that dog after seeing him on the news. If not, he passed no criticisms and he'll make it after the water recedes.
I hope.
